Installing metal roofing, metal roofing cost, sheet metal roofing
You may be planning to renovate your old house or planning to build
a new one. You have met the architecture and got your building plan drafted
on a glossy paper. You may have met the contactors, material suppliers
and electricians for your proposed dream home. Have you thought about
the roofs? What type of roofing have you planned for your house? I will
suggest the option of having metal roof. The metal roofs are preferred
over other types of roof due to following reasons:
Metal roofs are very popular these days due to their durability and visual
beauty. These are of various varieties and are built of different materials.
These roofs give many type of different finishing. The idea of metal roofing
is not new. Metal roofs are very popular since the beginning of 19th century,
when labour was less costly and there were a lot of craftsman available
everywhere. Simple flat layer metal roofs were also found in very ancient
buildings of 3000 BC. This shows ability and performance of metal roofs.
Metal roofing proves to be an excellent option for residential buildings
also. These may long last, even for your lifetime. The necessity is to
choose select correct system and suitable material. Although you have
to pay some more, as these are about four time costlier than high quality
tarmac stone roofs.
There are many other advantages which make costly metal roofing a popular
choice. These roofs are completely fireproof and you are safe even if
you reside in a fire prone area. We have seen many incidents of burning
of simple roofed houses by a small piece of glowing coal blown from the
chimney of an industry by the hot winds.
Metal roofs are very eco-friendly as these are built by using the material
like copper, polymer, aluminium, zinc, tin and steel. This all material
is recyclable and thus environment friendly. The distinctive properties
of these metals also add to looks of the metal roofing and many styles
of the roof may be prepared.
Metal roofs should be installed properly and these may prove to be highly
wind resistant. You should use light colours of metal roofing, so that
sun rays are easily reflected back and you save a lot of cooling costs
for your house.
Metal roofs are made noise resistant by using solid substrate to mount
on. Proper insulation and garret may be used for the provision of sound
barrier. Furring strips may also be used to install metal roofing on your
present roof. The air between these furring strips acts for elimination
of noise. You may have sound sleep even when heavy storm is making a too
much loud noise outside.
In the second part of this article we will discuss about the instructions,
materials and tools required for installation of metal roofing. Enjoy
